Getting to Know ME

I am an artist from the wonderful Garden State....that would be New Jersey. I moved to Oregon about 5 years ago in pursuit of a hot date, and wound up with the perfect husband and two beautiful little boys, (who are presently 1 and 3). They are my life and they make everyday worth living.

Many of you may wonder about the title of this blog. It is quite simple really. Most people here in Oregon have taken to calling me Jersey. My blog will discuss my artistic journey through life, my art, and also anything in printmaking and animation, (artists and art), I admire. So that is how, "The Jersey State of the Arts" was born.

I am currently a student enrolled at Portland State University and am working on my Bachelors in Printmaking, as well as minors in both Animation and Graphic Design. Sound Ambitious? Well, I really couldn't make up my mind! I love to draw, and found that printmaking was a way for me to take my drawings to the next level. Needless to say, printmaking, especially relief printing, is extremely satisfying. This passion for printmaking posed a problem for my childhood dream, creating animated films. Since PSU doesn't offer a major in animation, I am majoring in printmaking. The Graphic Design minor came about more as a backup knowledge. Animation is an extremely hard field to get into, especially if your aspiration is to work for any of the large companies, (my dream is PIXAR). So i figured a little design knowledge couldn't do anything but help me.

I don't know what the future holds for me, but I do know that I every fiber of my being needs to create. It is like a drug for me, I can't live without it. So, whether I realize my animation dreams, so simply become a starving artist, at least I will always do what I love.
