New film
So I have worked all term on a new film, and I am excited to say that it is finally finished!!!! It is called the Jog. It is a short 3 min. animated film, done in Flash and rotoscoped. I came up with the story after seeing a film called The Grand Canyon. In this film a woman is jogging and finds a baby under a bush. In my film a man falls asleep during a news broadcast, and dreams he is jogging. he jogs past a homeless man, a pile of trash, a burglar and a house on fire. Each time he never stops to help, he just keeps jogging. He arrives home, slams the door, and he wakes up.
The film is not supposed to remedy any questions, or give the viewer some prolific discovery. It is simply meant to provoke thought. What would you do if you saw these things. Do you keep jogging or do you stop to help?
I hope you enjoy.

The Worm People
In high school, back in the great Garden State, I knew I wanted to be an artist. I took art classes and in every one of them, the teachers would shove the need to draw realistically, down your throat. I felt suffocated, and as any teenager would, I rebelled. I decided that you did not need to show perfect facial expressions to convey deep emotional states. This led to the creation of my Worm People, as my friends dubbed them.
These Worm People, are abstract figure with no faces. their arms and legs can wrap around anything, and for any length. I use color and line to create emotional status and intensity, as well as movement, in each piece. The object is to create an emotion within the viewer. I don't necessarily care if they feel what I am feeling as I create. The satisfaction for me is the creative process. The Worm People some out of what I am feeling, and the working through and finishing of a piece is a way for me to work through whatever it is I am feeling. I do hope the viewer "gets it," but as long as they feel something, I am happy.
The Worm People have evolved over time. They started as pencil drawing and have grown into large scale relief prints.
here is one old one to show you an example of what they used to look like.
